GIRLS LACROSSE: Palo Alto Holds Off St. Francis

 Behind three important tallies to open the second half, the Palo Alto High girls lacrosse team held off St. Francis High-Mountain View 7-6 in a Thursday evening dual at St. Francis High.

Palo Alto built a commanding 7-3 lead, scoring the first three goals of the second half, then survived a spirited St Francis comeback to win by one.

After being issued its third yellow card off the game, Palo Alto played the last 11:47 min of the contest shorthanded.

St. Francis fired off three goals to cut into the lead, but couldn’t corral possession late in the game to try and even things up.

The Vikings controlled the ball for the majority of the final three minutes and change,helping the visitors secure their second win of the young season.

Charlotte Biffar scored her second goal of the game with 12:07 remaining to put Paly ahead 7-3. The score would be the eventual game winner.

Haley Libuit, Sarah Zuccaro and Taylor Kotas each scored for the Lancers down the stretch.
