Grab and Go Kids Planner: Fireworks and Fun

The long weekends offers both little kids and big 'adult' kids a lot of options.

While this weekend planner is for the kids, it's a long weekend for you too. So, it's okay if you enjoy these kid-friendly events like a Fourth of July parade, fireworks, professional soccer at Stanford Stadium and a chili fest in Palo Alto. If your kids like to dance, there are open dance classes too.

Where/When: Teen Dance Studio, 223 Moffett Blvd., Wednesday, Thursday (Times vary, see website)

Why Go: This is an opportunity for your dancing teens to get some open studio team to practice and perfect what they do, whether it is modern, ballet, contemporary, tap or Pilates for dancers. For students aged 12 to 18.

Pricing: $10 for 60 min., $15 for 90 min., $20 for 120 min

Where/When: Stanford Stadium,  269 Campus Dr, Stanford,  Saturday, 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Why Go: This is your chance to literally get twice as much bang for the buck and some real kicks with MLS soccer.  The San Jose Earthquakes take on the New York Red Bulls at 7:30 p.m. followed by a postgame fireworks extravaganza.

Why go: The City of Mountain View Fire Marshal, Jaymae Wentker, encourages residents to celebrate the holiday by attending public displays put on by trained professionals.  A professional fireworks show is specifically designed for public viewing and to safely celebrate Independence Day.

Why Go: It's the Fourth of July, so head on over to neighboring Los Altos Hills to enjoy an old-fashioned parade and celebration. Meet at Town Hall at 9:30 a.m. The parade starts at 1o a.m and marches off to Gardner Bullis School.  Then onto Shoup Park for lunch, music and activities on the lawn, that includes a petting zoo and a dunk tank.  Food available from .

Where/When: , 600 E Meadow Dr, Palo Alto, Monday, 12:00 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

Why Go: Again, take advantage of proximity. Palo Alto is celebrating the Fourth of July with a summer festival and chili cookoff! A team of chefs is battling for the title and winning chili and you can take a taste for a small fee. Beside the chili though, there will be music, line dancing and food and activities for all.
