John Greco Wins Golf Tournie Despite Rain Delay

Mountain View City Championship Golf event resumes and crowns a victor.

Saturday's rain caught many people off guard, especially golfers at Mountain View's Shoreline Golf Links there for the Mountain View City Championship Golf event.

Affiliated with a major California golf association, a field of nearly 75 golfers descended on Mountain View's shoreline to compete in three different "flights"—championship, senior and net—during the two-day event, Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22.

But the rain dampened—literally—the course and cause at first a delay then the suspension of the event on Saturday, according to Shoreline Links spokeswoman Robbie Gray.

However, play resumed early Sunday and everyone finished Saturday's first round and then a second round of 18 holes.

"So some of them played 30 holes on Sunday," Robbie said.

The winner at the end of the two days in the championship flight was John Greco with 140 points; in the senior it was Ralph Constanzo with 146 points in net Rich Moore with 138 points.
