Mayors Makes Friendly Wager Over 49ers and Packers Playoff Game

Who do you think will win? What do you think of the wager?

The mayors of San Francisco and Green Bay, Wis., are putting museum tours, food and booze on the line in a friendly wager over this weekend's NFL playoff game between the 49ers and Packers.

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and Green Bay Mayor James Schmitt agreed to the bet in advance of Saturday's NFC Divisional game between the two storied franchises. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

If the 49ers win, Green Bay will sponsor special preview tours to hundreds of San Francisco school children of the Exploratorium science museum when it opens at its new location on Pier 15 in April. San Francisco would also receive Wisconsin cheese curds, chocolates and wine from Captain's Walk Winery in downtown Green Bay if the hometown team wins, Lee's spokeswoman Christine Falvey said.

If the 49ers lose, San Francisco will have to pay up by sponsoring a free admission day at the new Children's Museum of Green Bay, as well as sending over Boudin sourdough bread, TCHO chocolates and Anchor Steam beer.

Falvey said Lee was confident given his wins in three separate wagers with mayors during the San Francisco Giants' World Series win last year, plus one from a playoff victory by the 49ers last season before they lost in the NFC Championship Game.

"We've gotten a lot of tasty treats from all over the country," she said.

Lee today also raised the 49ers team flag off of the mayor's balcony at City Hall and ordered that City Hall and Coit Tower be lit in red and gold. The 49ers had a first-round bye in the playoffs after finishing the regular season as the NFC's No. 2 seed.

The Packers, who lost to the 49ers in the first game of the regular season, won their first playoff game last week over the Minnesota Vikings.
