VTA Summer Youth Blast Pass is Back

Popular program offers unlimited rides for three months for $75

Summer will soon be here, and school will be out for many South Bay youths who will likely be looking for travel options to shopping, entertainment, jobs and sporting activities.

Valley Transportation Authority can help.

For the ninth consecutive year, VTA is selling discounted Summer Blast Pass tickets to teens and children ages 17 and younger. The passes are good for unlimited rides on VTA Bus and Light Rail trains from June 1 through Aug. 31.

At $75, the Summer Blast Pass costs $60 less than the price of buying three monthly youth passes at the regular price. In addition, pass holders get free offers and discounts at various South Bay businesses including California’s Great America, Gilroy Gardens, Raging Waters, The Retro Dome, Camera Cinemas, Pizza My Heart, and El Pollo Loco.

The pass is popular, with as many as 2,200 sold in recent years according to Brandi Childress, a VTA spokeswoman. Childress added that it’s important that young people buy the Summer Blast Pass tickets in May so that can get the maximum value out of the three month program.
