Garden Design Ideas: Edible Landscaping Tour This Saturday!

Don't miss touring 11 beautiful gardens this Saturday, July 20th, on Common Ground's 7th Annual Edible Landscaping Tour. This self-guided tour of unique and notable suburban edible landscapes from Menlo Park to Mountain View, is sure to inspire you. This year's tour features 10 private gardens, plus the Common Ground garden, where you can learn about the biointensive method of organic gardening. Visit all of the gardens or just a few of your choosing.

Tour Logistics
The tour is from 10am to 4pm and begins at Common Ground in Palo Alto, where you will pick up your tour book with a map. You can pre-register here or register on the day of the tour ($35 per person, which benefits Common Ground, a non-profit organization). After picking up your tour book, which has descriptions of each garden, use the map to visit the gardens at your leisure, until 4pm.

From Urban Farm to Edible Ornamentals
I'm always delighted by the innovative ways that gardeners incorporate food plants, raising chickens, ducks, rabbits and bees on their suburban lots. Some take a decidedly urban farm approach, while others integrate fruit trees and vegetable gardens to enhance ornamental landscapes.

And equally as inspiring, is how growing edibles leads to sharing the bounty and building community. See you there!
