$130K Available in Grants to Address Health and Human Care Needs

The Kiwanis Club of Mountain View hopes to award more grant funds this year to help low-income children and adolescents or seniors over 60 years of age.

Grant applications can still be submitted to the Kiwanis Club of Mountain View for nearly $125,000 in funds for requests that address the critical health or human care needs of low-income children and adolescents or seniors over 60 years of age.

In past years, the Board of Directors of the organization has fully funded some requests while partially funding others or not at all, according to acting president Jeffrey Sato. In 2010, a total of $110,000 was awarded to 32 local organizations including the , , , Hospice of the Valley, , Westwind 4-H and the YWCA's Support Network.

Applicant organizations must have and prove their 501(c)(3) status.

To apply visit the Kiwanis Club's Facebook page click on "Grants." Application must be postmarked by Dec. 1, 2011.

"The decision," said Sato, "to approve the recommendation for these grant requests is based on organizations meeting these criteria."
