Local Businessman Wants to Run for Mountain View

Andrew Le has lost count of how many marathons he's run.

"I've done Chicago twice, New York once, Utah, Boston in 2011," Le said as he rattled through the 40 or so medals that hang above his register at Star Downtown Smog Center, 705 W. Dana St. "Some were too heavy and fell down."

The 48-year-old businessman began his running in 2005, after Le realized he needed a better work-life balance. Now he runs about four to five races a year and it's not about his health anymore—he wants to run for Mountain View.

"I figured I'm going to run 26.2 miles anyways, so I why not give any proceeds to charity," Le said. "There are a lot of charities that don't receive a lot of money from government or corporations."

Le plans to run the Marine Corps marathon this October in Virginia. He hopes that people pledge to donate for every mile that he runs, and all the proceeds will go to a charity to be chosen by people in Mountain View.

"A lot of people are socially conscious around here and people are very involved," he said.

But marathons aren't his only hobby. He's also taken up the challenge of triathlons and just finished his first half-Ironman in Santa Rosa.

"Mind you, I am not the elite, but I finish," Le said.
