5 Things to Do This Weekend: Flower Art, Leukemia Lymphoma Walk and Kite Day

Events in Mountain View from Friday, June 21 until Sunday, June 23.

Start off your weekend with a little flower power! The Community School for Music and Art will host an opening reception on Friday, June 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 pm for artist Kathryn Kain whose exhibition of prints focusing on fruits, flowers and ephemera will be on display. The event takes place 230 San Antonio Circle. Free and open to the public.

Come support Patty Juanes, her family and friends as they gather to raise funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma in honor of "Our Girl Jen," Juanes' daughter who died of cancer. All of the proceeds will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and AADP. After the walk, stay for Shoreline Family Kite Day hosted by the City of Mountain View's recreation division, Sunday, June 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. It's an afternoon of single-string kite flying and fun! Free kite-making crafts activities for the first 100 participants, as well as a miniature kites display, food/beverage sales, and more.

The Computer History Museum will host a staged reading of A Computer Simulation of God, Sunday June 23 at 2 p.m. It's the first public performance and is intended to introduce the project to the Silicon Valley community. Free event.

Celebrate the Summer Solstice after a long day of doing good, kite-flying and learning about God from a Computer with some wine tasting at Savvy Cellar Wines, Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 2 p.m. 5 p.m. Cost $16 tasting fee ($8 for Club Savvy members)
