Weekend Planner: NASA's LADEE Moon Launch and Art & Wine Festival

Why leave Mountain View when there's so much going on this weekend?

Friday, Sept. 6

  • Learn about NASA Ames’ research in particular their work with the Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) and hopefully watch LADEE's live launch to the Moon at 8:27 p.m. during a fun science night at Moffett Field. There will be speakers, scientists, engineer, science booths, food trucks, live music, games and telescopes. Friday, Sept. 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are free, but required and only a limited number are available: https://amesladee.eventbrite.com/

Saturday, Sept. 7 and 8

  • Nearly 600 vendors of festive art and delicious food will once again color Castro Street, between El Camino Real and Evelyn Avenue, at the 42nd Annual Mountain View Art and Wine Festival. The major new attraction is the performance of a salsa band Orquesta Borinquen on Sunday. Catch NFL football in the Comcast Pigskin Party Lounge and there's plenty of child friendly events. Festival runs from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Free to enter.

Save the Date

  • Mountain View's environmental Planning Commission will hold a study session about the San Antonio Precise Plan and will give background on information collected over the summer on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.  in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
