Weekend Planner: Other Desert Cities, Free Stuff, Labor Day Closures

Thursday, Aug. 29

  • Join Mayor John Inks, Councilwoman and VTA Board Member Margaret Abe-Koga and City Manager Dan Rich as they welcome the Bay Area Bike Share program on August 29 at 10 a.m. at the Mountain View's City Hall—the site of one of the five docking stations in the city.

Saturday, Aug. 31

  • Stop by Castro Park at 1 p.m. to give-a-way your things and pick up a few others, all for free. It's the "Really Really Free Market," a place to give and get all sorts of items 100 percent and keep usable items out of the landfill, while connecting with your community. Items like clothing, food and fruit from your garden, toys, books, household items, plants and anything you want to share are welcomes.
Sunday, Sept. 1

  • The Library will be closed on Sunday and Monday for the Labor Day Holiday.

Monday, Sept. 2

  • Dittmer's will be closed for Labor Day.

Ongoing

  • TheatreWork's presents "Other Desert Cities" by Jon Robin Baitz, a play about a novelist whose memoir causes political rifts. Starts Wednesday, Aug. 21 until Sept. 15 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. Cost between $25 and $52.
