Founded in 1901 out of the Mission of Santa Clara, St. Joseph Parish offers six weekly masses: Saturday at 5:30pm; Sunday at 7am, 8:30am, 10am and 11:30 am and a Spanish-language mass at 1pm, all to accomodate its 1,300 parishioners. Every second Saturday of the month, a guest priest offers mass in Tamil at 6:45pm. Led by Father Robert (Bob) Moran, administrator Father Timothy Kidney and newcomer, Father Roberto Rojas, St. Joseph Parish has the distinction of also being host to the only Gaelic mass in the Bay Area on the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day. Once a year in late May, parishioners celebrate the three-day St. Joseph Parish Festival where the community of Mountain View can enjoy food and entertainment. Other noteworthy events include the celebration of the December Festivities of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the patrion saint of Mexico; Simbang Gabi, a nine-day observance by the Philipino community that leads up to the night before Christmas, and the Festas Portuguesas, which include processions in May and June and also the celebration of the Lady of Fatima. Used by the parish for Bible study, youth and young adult clubs, the church's recently renovated Father Doyle Hall is a spacious area decorated with historical references to the church and surrounding community. During mass, the hall provides an area for the church's youngest attendees to play. St. Joseph Parish is affiliated with St. Joseph Catholic School on Miramonte Avenue.
