Fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a single-family residence and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, fire spokeswoman Jaime Garrett said.

As firefighters battled the fire, one resident was treated for smoke inhalation, Garrett said. The resident was transported to a hospital for minor injuries, she said.

The blaze did not spread to any other homes and fire crews stayed at the scene overnight to put out any hot spots, according to Garrett.

The American Red Cross was called to assist residents displaced by the fire, she said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
